One of my earlier attempts at a corset
used pink satin as the “fashion layer” and plain white denim on
the inside. Despite my best efforts, the satin puckered at the seams. Makes you wanna cry!
Then, in stressing over this current
project and dreading the same result, I had an epiphany.
Interfacing!! Why didn't I think of it before? So I did a little test
piece. What a difference.
After cutting my satin brocade this
time, I have ironed-on lightweight fusible interfacing to each piece.
I'm not 100% happy with how it seems to be shriveled looking on the
inside. I used a medium low heat setting on my iron. The outside
appears to be OK... jeez, I don't know. If faced with the worst case scenario, let's look on the bright side. I have
extra fabric and it's only September!
